|I'm looking at setting up a website hosted in the UK, however, the site needs to be viewed Worldwide in places such as Angola, Cambodia and other remoter spots as well as the larger countries, US, Australia, Europe, etc. |
My question is where is it best to set up mirror sites to give the best all round service?
Obviously there are places where connectivity will be via low bandwidth means and therefore the site content has to reflect this but I think mirroring will help.
Does anyone have any advice on this subject? I have done some testing with pinging various sites hosted in US, UK and Singapore and I have come to the conclusion that for good download speeds in most of Europe, UK hosting is fine. For India, Japan and China, Singapore might be a good bet, but what about Africa? Pings from US, UK and Singapore are pretty bad for Johannesburg. Would a mirror in Africa be a good idea?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
