Solved arranging page with div boxes

Specs: Windows 7
I've been coding up a page using div boxes to arrange things, and the plan is for it to look something like this:

<img src="">
(Bonus question: how do I get images to display on this forum?)

Essentially an image with some text over the top, and then the rest of the page content displayed below this.

I've got the div boxes displaying the image and overlaid text ok. What I need to do is close this off in such a way that all subsequent content is displayed below this set of div boxes.

One solution that works, but is horribly inelegant involves just adding a bunch of br tags after the last div tag, until everything is now displaying below my image. Is there a better way to do this?

Also, I am not able to alter the code of the content that will be displayed below my stuff, so I cannot solve this by changing styles and such of this other code, or by enclosing it in certain tags.

Sounds like you're needing to set the css width property on the div to 100%.
