I am running two web sites using Apache's Virtual Server facility. When configured this way the first named site is the default. This is the one that get served if the site is accessed by IP address instead of a URL.
Now I am assuming that most hackers trying to break a web site will access it via an IP address as apposed to a URL. If I was to configure another site and make that the first one with only one page telling the individual that they must use a properly constructed URL, will this help keep hackers out - or am I barking up the wrong tree. Of course if a hacker knows the URL, he can get in that way, but he has to find it first.
Doing a reverse DNS lookup wont achieve anything as that will just point back to my ISP, not the URL of the web site which is resolved via a Dynamic DNS server.
