hello,

I'm wondering whether there is a way to find out how long a web page has been created over the internet. eg. How do i know when is the home page of computing.net was created.

Thanks.

You can do a whois on the domain and see when the actual domain name record was created. You can also go to http://www.archive.org/ and use the Wayback Machine to try to find old records of a site, but other than that, there really isn't much way to figure out exactly when a certain page or site was created.

Guess you could always ask the developer?

Bryan

One of my pet peeves is web pages that don't indicate when they were made.

In some cases it doesn't matter, but in some cases it does.

For example, if I come across a webpage that talks about the "best practices" in building a webpage. If I'm not uptodate on this subject myself, I might find myself following advice that is five years old.

What? You mean I shouldn't use the BLINK tag around my links? Animated GIF seperation bars aren't "in" anymore? Background MIDI's are frowned upon?

What has the Internet come to?! It used to be fun. :'(

I think as Don Arnett too. I like reading from the net, but many times it is just hard to judge how old the information is.

Hi everyone;

Good question.
Good info.
Good point.
Good humor.
And wtk brings it back home.

I don't have anything more to offer but I will take to heart the point being made here.

Thanks for the insight;
RandyL
