..regarding a website I'm building for a friend of my dad's.
First of all, after a week or so of building the site and keeping him updated, he's decided he wants to have some scrolling text going across underneath the main header. I'm just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of the best way of getting this done? I'm sure there used to be an old html (or Javascript?) command that did this, but I'm fairly sure it's not really recommended now.
Secondly, I'm building a backend for the site so he can update the price list for the company and add or remove cars which they are currently selling. I'm 99% sure that I've got the car sales done, I've managed to get an upload form in there for the pictures etc and I think it'll work fine when it's finished, judging from the tests I've done. What I'm wondering about is how I could have a price list that has an editable order.
I originally made it so the item for sale was typed in, followed by the price, but he explained that he'd like to be able to rearrange these sometimes. Does anyone have any recommendations on this?Sorry for the long-winded question! Any help would be greatly apprecciated!
AshThe site so far is up here. Any other comments/criticms are welcome, this is my first 'proper' site.
Thanks

For the scroll question, there *used* to be a tag a LONG time ago (I think it was <scroll>), but it is no longer supported. So you will need to use javascript. Just do a google search for "javascript scrolling text". Or, slap him in the head and tell him scrolling text looks amateurish!
As for the second part, you could put a radio button next to the item description and the item price to indicate which should be displayed first for that entry. However, from your question it could be interpreted that he would want to 'enter' the data in a different order. But, that would just be stupid - a lot like scrolling text.
One problem I found was that when clicking a picture to see it full size, you are not allowing the window to be resized or scrolled so I can't see most of the picture.

If the scrolling text never changes, a simple animated gif would do the job.
Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

I think it was <marquee>, and you made me feel bad because it's not that song since I last using it, lol.
Anyways, I agree with Michael, it looks amateurish. And if you must, javascript is the more accepted standards for these kind of things today.
Or was there really a tag named <scroll> long ago? If so, then I won't feel bad :D
