Comment:

I managed to install Solaris 9.0 for x86 but unfortunately it did not pick up my NIC (linksys LNE100TX) My question comes in two parts and any suggestions would be welcomed.

1. Finding a driver. Not sure if this NIC is supported. I checked sunsolve but havn't come across anything specific about a hardware compatability listing. (maybe I'm Blind).. Anyone know of a different Driver that may be compatible with this card. Or another inexpensive NIC that may be compatable.

2. After finding a NIC/Driver. As for naming convention. I know when I installed gig E card at the office I created a new interface name "ge0" for this particular card. I guess my main question is; if and when I install a NIC is there a specific name that must be assigned within my X86 hardware. I've used plumb before and I'm sure I would need to do the same here to create the device but I was wondering about the naming convention of the device.

Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA
David

If the card is not listed in the Sun hardware compatability list, there is little chance of finding a driver.

The device name is assigned by the host OS. The OS might list devices as

le0
hme0
elx10 # <= 3c905
