I know MS-Dos pretty well and I have heard that it is a lot like unix. can somebody point me to a good Unix to start with. It should be mostly command based. Thank you

I would use solaris which is the most popular. Check out www.sunsunsun.net for cheap systems for beginners

Minix was built for that purpose (educational unix system).
If you are willing to get deeply into all
the bells and whistles of Unix, go for Minix.
If you want to get into it in the easy way, go for a Linux system such as Linux Mandrake.
Sun Solaris is geat, but I would not recommend it for first time users.
