Webhost changes my IP ruining my website

Comment:
I have the IP my current webhost gave me hard-coded into certain html, cgi and js pages. I just saw that some pages weren't functioning, and it seems that right now any code referring to the IP gets a Page-not-found. If the page refers to the ".com" address, it works OK though. So I had to search through all my files to replace the IP with the main .com domain name I am using now (a colossal headache). I don't check my website daily, so I don't how long the pages weren't working, and since it is a membership website I can lose money anytime anything isn't working. Is the webhost ripping me off? It's my business if I want to have ALL my pages refer to the IP, rather than a domain name, right? Sometimes a problem develops dealing with the domain registrar and pointing the domain to the correct IP can be held up. I have never yet found a webhost that isn't a jerk. Please advise - Mike

Make sure the ISP/Web hosting service is giving you a static ip, they usually cost more. If they are sharing their ip's then the can charge less. Many of the less expencive web hosting sites share and use a virtual web site from the same ip.
Bottom line is "you get what you pay for".
