Hi,

I am having a major problem. I am running AIX 4.3.3 and I have lost access to the filesystems in a volume group.

When I run df -k I get I/O errors for the filesystems within the volume group.

When I run lsvg -l datavg I get the following error message:

root@gbscrib:/> lsvg -l datavg
0516-034 : Unable to access volume group device. Execute
redefinevg to build correct environment.

The volume group appears to be there and ok and the filesystems seem to be mounted ok.

root@gbscrib:/> lsvg -o
csarchivevg
data3vg
data2vg
datavg
data4vg
rootvg

I tried the redefinevg and it hasn't helped.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this one?

Thanks

In order not to foul things up worse than they are, I would recommend you get the IBM redbooks on the subject. Go to www.redbooks.ibm.com and download SG24-5432 and SG24-5432. These are extensive redbooks on the AIX Logical Volume Manager.
