For Linux, Slackware is more UNIX-like, in my opinion. Another good option is FreeBSD. Solaris is a proprietary UNIX, but you can download it for free if you create an account. If you want an OS that can also be used for general stuff, RedHat is one of the easiest, however. Finally, if all you want to do is test command-line stuff, you can just get an account at freeshell.org.
