Well, a simple question.

I’m new for LINUX and OS managing, my
OS is WinXp, and have partitioned it to install LINUX, but
something get wrong and can NOT boot to WinXP again, it
tell me something about a "Fatal error" ...ok...I know it is serous or guess so.....it will be my new hobby to find out what I did wrong.
(well, I’m doing this to learn more about SYSADMIN)

But...hurray, I could install Linux and work on it. :D

My question is: Supposing there is no way to get WinXP back or boot to it (because I lost it)
Could I recover my information (data, MP3, docs) from WinXP and transfer it to my
New OS (UNIX) ???

And...how ?

Thanks

All the Windows files reside on FAT32/NTFS partitions. These are the filesystem windows generally use.

Linux/Unix in general doesn't recognize these filesystem. There are some works going on in Linux forum to recognize the NTFS partitions from Linux. So, you can get some utilities on the Internet which can access your FAT32/NTFS partition and then you can access all your data even if you are not able to boot.

Check this link http://www.geocities.com/tipsforlinux/articles/3.html
There are similar lots of links available if you do a google.
