I have remote site users that telnet in to a Unix based software thru a Windows XP "friendly" software called Anita. My problem is this. 2 weeks ago, a bad storm destroyed my cisco router that I've been using for this for more than 5 years. Instead of spending the tons of money to replace the Cisco, I purchased a wireless Netgear WGU624. The problem is whenever my remote users come in to my Unix server and sit idle for approx. 5 minutes or more, they get locked up in Unix. They come back to their machines, hit enter, Unix knocks them out and I have to kill their process or they get tons of them orphaned out there. I know the problem is something to do with my idletime being set to 5 minutes on my router and I have a request out to Netgear on what to do to set the time to "0". In the meantime, does anyone know of some quick and easy command I could maybe put in each of the remote site user .profile files to make Unix think they're staying active on that system? Something as easy as an automatic ls -l or ANYTHING like that?? Just something to keep their idletime set to 0?? Thank you!
