I wish to tar an ascii file on AIX machine and ftp it to OS/390 server and untar it there.
Currently, I am using 'tar' and 'pax' unix utilities for the same. but, getting some junk characters in files untared.

Reply: (edit)When you ftp the file, make sure you set the transfer type to binary. That is the most common problem encountered when using ftp to transfer files.
