I am running a Solaris 8 machine and I used to be able to use the su command from ssh and right on the machine itself but now all of the sudden I can not do either! I can easily su from root to any user but I can not su to root or to any other user from any user besides root. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi,
su uses pam(3PAM) for authentication, account management, and session management. The PAM configuration policy, listed
through /etc/pam.conf, specifies the modules to be used for su. Here is a partial pam.conf file with entries for the su
command using the UNIX authentication, account management, and session management module.su auth required /usr/lib/security/pam_unix.so.1
su account required /usr/lib/security/pam_unix.so.1
(both are 1 line, see the pam.conf)
Lemme know if this is the solution to your problem,
TaaKie
