Howdy!

Hope someone can help with this!

I have an SGI Indigo2 with no CDROM drive - but have the IRIX 6.5 CD set. Need to do a new O/S install.

Have tried to set up bootp / tftpd on solaris so I can install O/S across my network from the SGI - with the following files :

/etc/ethers (hardware address of SGI)
/etc/inetd.conf (uncomment tftpd and add bootps entry)
/etc/bootptab (containing 'usual' bits and pieces)

The network link is OK - have used it previously with these two machines.

Can I boot the SGI from the Sun's CDROM drive - the CD set is in XFS format, and hence is not mountable on the Sun? Do I need to NFS share the cdrom drive?

If I point the SGI's 'Install System Software' option at the Sun's CDROM, it eventually times out...

Not very much info, but has anyone got any experience with this sort of thing??

Thanks in advance
Simon.
