solaris - CDE loginas root, bash

OS: solaris
CPU/Ram: sparc III 2 GB

I put the exec bash in the .profile file in the root directory to work with bash. Now the strange thing is the system comes up with CDE and the login screen. I enter root and then the password. The system logs me in but logs out immediately. Is there a work around for this ?

If you use the graphical interface you should have a file in your home directory named .dtprofile
Insert the following line as last line:

DTSOURCEPROFILE=true

That way if you logon in graphical mode, you use the ~/.profile

So, try to get to a lower runlevel and make sure you have the .dtprofile file.
