Settting up cable Modem

I am trying to setup my Optimum online cable modem using DHCP on Solaris 8. I did the following
1) touch /etc/dhcp.le0 2) cp /dev/null /etc/hostname.leO 3) touch /etc/notrouter 4) cp /dev/null /etc/defaultrouter 5) cp /dev/null /etc/resolv.conf 6) edit /etc/nsswitch.conf and change the line to "hosts: files dns" I watch the machine boot: Starting DHCP on primary interface le0 then an error message pops up le0: no carrier, cable disconnected or hub link test disabled. When I run ifconfig -a it confirmed that the primary interface that I shoulde use is le).
