I am using a telnet session (VT100) and need to modify my .profile so that it will set the color of the telnet session. I am not using Xterm (ie: can't use .Xdefaults). I am able to change the colors via menu's but need to preset in .profile. Is this possible??? Can't find anything at all on how to do it. Please help

Are you using telnet software on a PC? If so, what product? The best solution may be to configure the colors at that level.

Check on terminfo and tic command to create a new term type and define TERM in your .profile.
But, I don't think that you want to do it.

Yes, I am using Reflection for UNIX and digital. We want the colors changes to take effect on all users telnet sessions once they log onto a particular host and override any personal color setting that they have in the telnet software. ie: Production host diff color to test.
Summary: How do you change the amount of colors in Linux? Simply because it seems like my 32mb Stealth3 s540 card can only handle 16 colors.... Just doesn't sound right does it ;-) If someone can help me out, ...
