Hi Guys, I am wondering if anyone can help me find / make a script that does local server hard drive backups. If I have HDD1 containing all my important data, and HDD2 as a backup only... I am wanting a script that will run once, maybe twice a week that will clone from one drive to the other securly.

I do not want this to break, slow down, or screw up my server in any way. Any help ?

I normally forget the URLs, so email might be the best point of contact. Cheers, Andy.

Andy,

to reduce the resources on your system it is needed that you provied more than only chicken feed information.
e.g. If you are using AIX you can use the Logical volume manager.
Or you can use incremental backup procedure.

Come back with more information and there will be an answer which will fit your requierments.

No RISK no fun
Frank

Why don't you simply consider using "dd" to do a disk to disk backup as a starting point. Schedule the thing to run during slow use times. You won't be able to throttle the backup job though.

rsync is another good option.
