Comment: We have Linux Redhat 6.2 and we want to configure the send mail facility to our office. We have ISDN,VSNL,WAN connection
facility. We like to configure E-mail facility through Send Mail in Linux mail server. Mail me the detailed procedure if you have please.

Reply: (edit)It basically is in the configuration file /etc/sendmail.cf. The deamon will generally work out of the box except for a few entries specific to your needs. However Sendmail could have coined the phrase "the devil is in the details". I would suggest getting Oriely's book on Sendmail. If you want somthing a little less daunting Qmail is another option.

In Unix
Locate the file named sendmail.cf, this file is usually located at:
/etc/sendmail.cf
/etc/mail/sendmail.cf
Edit the file using vi or your favorite line editor
For example: vi /etc/sendmail.cf
Search through the file to find a line that begins with DS, note the DS is in upcase.
The line may have DS alone such as DS
Or, a name may follow it such as DSmailhost.$m
Change the line to read
DSmail.njit.edu
Save the file and exit the editor
Kill and Restart Sendmail or just Reboot your workstation to load the new file.
