Does anyone know of a way to do a Screen Capture in UNIX from the command prompt, i.e. not using a program like "XV". I want to be able to issue a command and have it capture a screen window and save it in a predesignated file in a predesignated file format.

There is a utility xdm to dump an X display, then xwdtopnm can create an anymap file from the dump, and pnmtotiff will create a tiff file. If you like, I can e-mail a script to dump an X window to a tiff file.
