Comment:

I have built my Solaris 9 box and set up the DNS / DHCP etc. I then installed Samba and set-up so that the server can join the domain and added some shares via the smb.conf file. This all works fine.. but...

How do I set the permissions on the shares to inherite their permissions from NT? I thought that if I added the SMB server (the NT PDC) in the global settings of the smb.conf that this would do this? So I added

security = server
password server = NTBOX

in the global settings and

valid users = NTUSER1

in the share permissions.

But then when I try to access the share it tells me that the passord is incorrect (there isn't a unix id with the same NT id)
I thought by added the security server setting then I would be authenticated by the NT Server?

Can anybody help? Also is it possible (once this is fixed) to use NT Global Groups rather than indervidual users?

Thanks

David
