redhat7.3 problems

Well I got linux redhat 7.3 some time ago and it worked fine. Now i got a computer upgrade, formatted and reinstalled it. I was runing winxp when i didnt like it so i formatted completly, installed redhat 7.3 with no errors. So than i restart my pc and it boots fine. LILO pops up and i pick linux. It boots fine everything [OK] and than it just show a command prompt, like DOS. It says Login: i type in my login and than password" i type in password. Still no GUI or gnome. I did install XWindows and gnome. It doesnt work though. Why?
