Just looking for other users of this OS, since I'm fairly new to it. I need specific information about this OS, such as setting it up so it will find my modem and get on the internet. So far, I'm really impressed by it, and it kind of reminds me of Linux, and as in Linux, I have not even a clue as to what I'm doing, but I want to learn. It was super easy to set up. I've never seen an easier OS to install on my system, but it appears that even though it found most of my hardware, such as: Printer, Graphics card, Soundcard... it didn't seem to detect my modem...
If anyone has had any experience with this OS, please let me know, so I can do some brain picking!
Thanks in advance!

If your modem is internal, it may be a WinModem. Some recent Linux developments include drivers/workarounds for forcing Winmodems to work under Linux and you could try the same solutions under QNX, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
External modem or cable/DSL modem with a network card are the EASIEST ways to go. I had an internal modem that was PCI Controller based. It said ON THE BOX that it was supported by Windows, OS/2, LINUX, etc. That was cool. The instruction manual even told how to set it up under Linux. Problem was, it didn't work for me. But even the tech department had a Linux guy walking me through it. This cool company, by the way, is Actiontec. I'm on a cable modem now, but I keep this one anyway.
In the end I wrote a script and put it in the autostart folder. No problems. The point, once you figure out your problem, try writing a script that will automatically set it up for you each boot. That may get you around editing a bunch of configuration files.
As for the EASIEST OS to set up, I don't know. I've never even gotten to play with QNX [but I do know what it is, sort of] so I don't know how it compares, but I must say that BeOS 5 Pro setting itself up COMPLETELY and AUTODETECTING AND CONFIGURING ALL my hardware (pretty much) within 20 minutes was IMPRESSIVE.
I would like to try QNX if you wouldn't mind pointing me to the sources.
Thanks and hope this helps,
CrasH
PS--feel free to e-mail me with anything further.

Thx for the response. You can download QNX at www.qnx.com. The reason I said it was so easy to install, is that it came in an *.exe file which opened up and installed it quickly right from my windows desktop. I chose how much space to give it and it did the rest. After it installed it rebooted with the option to either boot into QNX or Windows and it put a nice uninstall option in my Windows>Programs
Hope you have fun with it!
Regards,
Bem
