Subject: Operation not permitted???
Comment:

Hi,

I'm running a Perl script that connects to a server using a socket. The script works on an external server, but not the one at home.

The script fails at the line Bind(socket information here)...the Bind call appears to kill the program and the error message recorded is:

Operation not permitted.

I am root, the script has been chmod 4755...

Any guess as to why the Bind operation is not permitted when I'm root???

BSD UNIX v 4.x via MachTen.

All other network functions appear to be normal. That is, I can FTP and rlogin over TCP/IP...only the Bind call is failing.

THANKS for any info!!!!!!
