networking problem under solaris8

i have two pc's with dual operating system viz window-xp and solaris 8 connected thro a cross cable and accton network card,the network is okay under window-xp but under solaris 8 even though the accton driver in properly installed and i am able to confirm this thro ifconfig-a command and at the time of booting .i am not even able to ping the other computer but individually i am able to ping the card.i have already updated the /etc/hosts file and /etc/hostnam.rtls0 file . need help badly kindly advice to get over this problem.
