why does it give me this error when i try to use the manuals...

Reformatting page. Please Wait.../tmp/sman_YiaiZd: null file

though it doesnt show any error when the root tries to do it.

Is the /tmp directory group and world writable?

yea the permission that is assaigned for the /tmp is drwxr-xr-x....

drwxr-xr-x is not group or world writable. You are getting the error because you don't have permission to write to /tmp
