join binary file(split by split)

Thx David and Theodore for the answer for split i was able to split the file a xxx.tar file which is not a text file

now how do i join this binary files together
i was looking at join man pages and it seems most of the examples given are of joining a text files and not binary files is join the right utility or is there is some other utility
