i have a basic question about installing red hat linux on my pc. i have a second hd and it is installed already, however, that is it. i do have a boot disk and the cd rom for installation. how do i make sure that it is going to be installed on my new (unformatted hd) and not going to erase whats on my original hd (which windows 98 resides.) do i need to go into the BIOS or should the disk and cd rom be enough?? i tried to go through process already and got to a point which told me that the drive had a bad partiton table and that if i went any further i would lose any saved info on disk!!! basically, how do i determine for sure that i'm installing to the correct(so far unnamed) drive ???????

take out the windows hard drive and set the second drive as c: then install your linux. I tried to install linux on my p200 and it did not work becuase does not like my main board or my video card. so I put my windows drive back in and now my win startup screen is scrambled. when I tried to install linux it did something to the main board so be careful. I then installed it on my 486dx66 and it could not read the memory and jamed up. I then put it on my other 486 and got it to run but when I changed back to my windows hard drive it would no longer find my cd rom. so agian it has changed something on my main board. so be careful.

I went out and bought a program called Linux for Windows, it comes with Linux-Mandrake 6.1 and creates a virtual partition so that you can install Linux. I got it a BJ's Wholesale store for 14.99.
