Increase /tmp on HP-UX

Need to increase size of /tmp file system on HP-UX 10.20 9000 series server. /tmp is being used currently and needs to be unmounted to increase size. Cannot unmount due to usage. Can anyone help ???????

not an HP guy but a service must be using your tmp and that is probably why you cannot umount. Stop the daemon at a good time if you know what it is. If you are trying to unmount the directory than I can only assume that tmp is on a seperate partion in which case you can then just mount the larger partition on tmp. Hope this helps.

Use fuser -cu /tmp to check which processes is using /tmp then kill them. then you can unmount it. However if you have LVM and have On-line JFS, you can online increase size.
