Hi there,
I know Solaris, but now I had to use HP-UX in HP9000. I can't find rc#.d under /etc directory. There are rc.local, rc.single.... Are they same thing?
There are no ufsdump & ufsrestore in HP-UX. what's instead? And what's SAM?

Thanks,
Ian

Reply:

1. rc#.d is found in /sbin
2. HP-UX has fbackup and frecovery instead of
ufsdump & ufsrestore
3. SAM (System Administration Manager) is a powerfull menu driven tool for sys admin. Most of the sys admin tasks can be done via SAM (including fbackup & frecovery and Kernel changes).

there is program dump and restore. Though you may find it hard to get specs for this
example
#/root
dump -0udfs 81633 /dev/rmt/2mn 4000 /
81633 is tape density (dlt) 4000 = lengh
