Hi! I would like to find out if there's a way to span archive files in UNIX, like the same way winzip can span files? I've looked at the tar command but it seems there's no option for it to create an archive that spans more than 1 file. Thanks!

The man page for the native hp-ux says that when writing to tape tar will request another tape when it reaches the end. The gnu tar has an option for multiple volumes. The split command may be what you are looking for.
