Hi There

I have created a small script to extract data from an table and output to txt file. Since the table contains more 100 columns I want to select few main columns around 20 and then extract the data from the table. Now, how can I redirect the sql query output to an excel file??? Thanks for yoour kind help. BTW, I am using sybase database on Sun Solaris Unix.

cheers

I don't think you can generate an xls file from unix. You spool a flat file and the file name should have .csv (comma delimited). Also, each columns from the database should be separated by (, i.e.,comma). Note: You have to the eliminate
all commas from your db columns. The excel reads .csv format file. After opening the csv file you have to save in xls format.
