Hello,
I have many unix machines at work which I can access internet from browser after providing info for proxy server, but I cannot ftp or telnet or even ping outside world.
Often I need to ftp files to vendors, but I cannot do it straight from my unix machines.
There is no firewall.
Can anyone please help me how to access outside via ftp.
Thank you ;)
Linda

Linda,

Obviously there is a firewall because you have to provide proxy authentication information for your web browser. Does your company policy allow ftp through the proxy? Do you have

HTTP_PROXY
HTTP_PROXY_USER
HTTP_PROXY_PASS

set in the environment variables
