Failing root password recovery

If anyone can help.....? Having recently acquired a 7026-M80, without root password details, which I am attempting to recover using the OS installation disks (AIX v4.3.3). All seems fine, until the operator panel reports "0637 U0.1-P1/Z2" and the system just hangs. Have had little success in tracing this error code, except for a possible link to the power supply for a SCSI adapter. Anyone seen this before or can point me towards the next step? Cheers.
