es1371 sound quit working

please help i had kernel 2.2.12 configure and my sound was working..i changed to kernel 2.3.42,configured it the same but no sound it is recgonized at boot.. when i changed back to 2.2.12 sound didnt work anymore.i have tried it as a module and just driver for it but none work..it still works under windows so its not the sound..sndconfig finds it as a es1371 audiopci its on board...windows finds it as a creative sound blaster audio pci 64 d i had it as es1371 and it was working.. once it stoped i tried everything even tried it as a sound blaster puting in all the irq and i/o as in window and tried ensonic but to no avail..any help please
