I'm having trouble finding step by step directions for setting a dual boot with Win98 and Solaris 8 off the same hard drive. My hard drive is already partitioned into C and D, each having 2 gigs each. The C drive has Win98 on it, I want to put Solaris on Drive D. Can Anybody Help?

Delete your D drive partition first. Solaris doesn't use FAT type filesystem. Note free space size. This is what u will assign to solaris. Boot from Solaris CD. Not the one that says install. I think there is another called DISK 1. Select interactive install. It will go and check ur current hardware config language etc. U will come to an option to assign drive space to solaris. the available space should be about the same as your ex D drive partition. There is an option that comes up in the disk configuration that allows you to choose a default boot. It will show solaris and a DOS partition. Select solaris and once installed solaris will give you a dual boot with it defaulting to solaris. 98 will appear as an alternative boot option. RTFS (Read The F...in Screen) very carefully. Its easy to get confused. Solaris allows you to back out of the config before formating partitions so your should be ok up to format point. NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! Note your bios disk configuration mode. I have seen an instance where solaris changed the drive type when install after NT4.0

i want to load solaris and windows mellinium on the same drive . i had brought a new hard disk of 40 GB and i want to install the solaris operating system first and then windows mwllinium next. my first boot up should be solaris. can any one help me so that i can load and can prepare for my exam which is held in four days.please any one help me out from this problem
