I am trying to install red hat linux 5.2 on disk drive. When I go to use DiskDruid or Fdisk to set the partitions it says it can't read the disk partions and at this point I can't do anything else. Any other operating system will install on this drive except linux.

Fdisk or DiskDruid cannot read partition tables? This is not a Linux problem but a partition utility problem, but you should be able to see the file system. If it is a MS-DOS FAT16 FAT32 you should be able to see it. If you could be more specific perhaps(can you move about DiskDruid with the tab key, in other words is DiskDruid even running?).Can dos fdisk read the table? With more info I my be able to help.

I have a problem as well... I tried installing Linux 6.1, and Druid made two partitions; 1 primary DOS and 1 ext DOS-both with "system" displaying "unknown". FDISK will not let me delete the primary because the ext exists and I can't delete the ext because it says that a logical drive exists. When I delete the logical drive (from where I have no idea) it "says" that the partition will be deleted-then it jumps to a screen that says that the drive letter has been changed and that logical drive (D:) remains.

Hey!I gotta problem.I have Red Hat linux installed on a 515 MB partition and win95 on a 1110 partition of my hard disk.I had installed win95 after linux so lilo is gone. Now I want to delete linux completely and convert that partition to dos.Can someone please tell me how to do that?
Summary: hi, because LINUX use swap file sytem and extend2 partition, you cannot see the partition when you use FDISK. only you can do to erase the hard drive is using partion magic or system commander softwar...
Summary: linux partitions can be removed with fdisk, option 3 delete parts brings up another menu one option is delete non dos partition. this works I did it today....
