Hi,
We have an application running UNIX. It prints to a Genicom. The Genicom printer went down and I had the UNIX admin send me the print job so I can send to a HP Laser printer.

Now, the print job is not understood by the Laser becase it prints all the formats with the data when I send the print to the printer.

I tried explaining this to the Unix admin who thinks he understands everything about print jobs.

Is there something I am doing worng? I took the print job on my windows box and did

copy /b c:\printjob \\sharedprinter

I also tried opening it in wordpad and print directly to printer and same crap.

Here is a sample of the print file

[300;200 B
X0002055 N-DC 281

[400;200 B
CUSTOMER COMPANY
5 SOMETHING STREET AVE NE
WASHINGTON
DC 20002-

As above, CUSTOMER COMPANY is supposed to be bold.

Any ideas?

The print job is setup for Genicom. You cannot just take the file and print it on another printer unless that printer can emulate the Genicom as formatting instructions (turn on bold, turn off bold, etc.) are embedded in the file.
