Q1. We need to work out whether your NT tcp/ip is setup correctly? Can you try :
ping localhost
A1. If this does not work then the tcp/ip on your NT workstation is not setup correctly. Check control panel/network/protocols/tcp/properties.
If this does work can you ping any other machine on your network? You may have to check your network cable! Q2. Can the SCO box ping itself (ping localhost)?
A2. If not then check your tcp configuration. Q3. Is the NT workstation on the same subnet as the Sco Box?
A3. If not then check you have a default gateway setup under control panel/network/protocol/tcpip/properties. Rather than having loads of questions and answers could you possible try supplying the following details:
1. Do you get any error messages when you ping the SCO box from the NT workstation
2. Do you get any error messages when you ping the NT workstation from the SCO box
3. Do you get any error messages when you ping localhost from either box
4. Are the ip addresses on the same subnet
5. What are your subnet masks
6. Do you have any routers/bridges/ethernet switches between either pc.

Reply: (edit)You must make sure you edit the host table on the NT machine and the unix machine also. Then open up a cmd line and ping machine by name and also ip address. If you don't know how to edit host table e-mail me back, if this worked, e-mail me back also.
