Hello,
Does anyone know how to change the machine name. There are many host files which I have edited however this does not work, is there a Network utility that can handle these type of issues easily.

i don't know if that works in networked environment but it works as standalone. may use the following
# hostname [newname]
that's all.

On Solaris you need to change hostname in 6 places. They are; /etc/inet/hosts /etc/nodename /etc/hostname.hme0 and all hosts file in /etc/net/t* directories

doing this above changes to the proper files...does this also work for a client on a DHCP network. Because in some of these files you have to supply the IPaddress.
