booting problem in linux

i loaded linux in a 4.3 hdd when i complet the installation machine restarted while loading lilo the screen is filled with 1 @ 0 i tryed twice but same problem excist i used fdisk again and format in win95 but that gives problem after giving fdisk /mbr it booted pls help how to load lilo with problem is there any utilitis to solve the problrm

Always remember when installing Linux to make a boot disk. If you have that boot disk then go into linux. Then go to the directory where lilo.conf is installed. use the command: ' cp lilo.conf lilo.back ' to backup your lilo.conf then enter :' vi lilo.conf ' to edit the configuration file and check that the kernel is in the right device. then save your changes with :wq and type 'lilo ' to compile your changes then reboot. If that doesn't work you need to reinstall LINUX and remembering not to use linear but instead compact and place lilo on the master boot record. Again always make a boot disk. When partitioning Linux try not to make the / mount point more than 850 Mb which is the boot device where the kernel is going to be installed. Create /home and other dev of your choice with more space if you want to
