Comment:

I saw files in three format in Unix file1 or file2@ or file3/. The first is a file and the third is a directory. What is the second format? It seems also a directory since I can go into it. What the difference of file2@ and file2/ ?

Thanks

When in doubt, use the man pages.

a man ls revealed that the -F option will:

Display a slash (/) immediately after each pathname that is a directory, an asterisk (*) after each that is executable, an at sign (@) after each symbolic link, and a percent sign (%) after each whiteout.
