I don't know very much about Unix or its linked files. Using CuteFTP, I saw a directory that didn't mean anything to me, like it should't have been there, so I deleted it. But then when I went to one of my biggest directories "videos", it wasn't there, and if I surf to my website none of the videos are there! My real videos directory is at "home/myaccount/www/a/b/videos", but what I thought was a useless directory that I deleted was at "home/myaccount/www/myaccount/a/b/videos" (the "myaccount" is repeated twice, which I assumed is unnecessary, and the videos directory there did not show any videos in the file list, it only showed a single photograph). Can anyone tell me if the files are still there, if I only deleted a link, or if I can undelete them? I emailed this question to the webhosting people, but they are scumbags so for all I know they deliberately did something screwy to create confusion.

The directory can be retrieved if Ur web hosting people have an backup policy. In unix if a file or dir is deleted from command line it can not be salvaged.But if Ur in GUI mode of unix U can retrieve it like windows.Usually web hosting service providers give U command line access.
