I have been getting threatening emails from a creditor saying they are going to come to my house and they will behere waiting for me and my family when we get home. I want to track them down. I know it can be done with an ip address, but where do i find it in an msn email i received?

Do you owe that creditor money? If so, I think they may be within their rights to send emails like that.

It is in the header. You then need to do a "Who is" search. To get the exact street address may require a court order.
Coming to your home is not a threat. ........But if they made mention of your family being part of the visit then they stepped over the line.
Make sure to save the email....and if possible pay what you owe them.

If they are making threats then you are well within your rights to protect yourself. However having shot the visitors will not relieve the debt. I would contact an attorney as well as the phone comapany as they keep a record of all calls. This can be used in court. There was a case here in town last year where a debt was forgiven by a judge because an overzealous collection agent swore at the client over the phone. I don't believe the debt was that high though.
Practice makes perfect but only if you practice perfectly!

depending on where you live....US or elsewhere... there are laws that govern what a debt collector can and can not do!. If he violates the rules and you can prove it ...bye bye debt or at least the bill collector will owe you money to pay the debt if he is third party...The company is forced to resolve the account as the bill collector is representing them and they can not afford the publicity.
Credit card debt is usually classified as personal loan with no collateral to protect the debt and there is really not much they can do but take you to court in which case they only win a judgment and then must leave you alone. The debt is still there but from there on out they must do everything through the courts and only through the courts...small debts they refuse to sue. They cannot write off a judgment. By not suing they can write off the loss and then still have a possibility to get paid as well....
Loans with collateral such as morgages or auto loans...they have strict repossession laws and must abide by them...threatening someone does not benefit them as much as repossession...
find out who it is (when they send the bill) then mail them back that you want them to quit trying to contact you and you need to have them take you to court. If they still harass you then you now have recourse against them.
What ever you do....Do Not talk to them on the phone...make then send it to you in writing in the mail...this is your right to do so...they can tell you almost anything ....but when you force them to write it out they will not do any thing illegal then.
Use your caller ID on your phone and refuse any calls from blocked or unknown or even out of state callers...just pick it up and hang it right back....Make them call from a recognizable phone ...record the conversation if you feel you must talk to them. Tell them you are recording the phone conversation before you even say hello....it is illegal to record people without their knowledge.
Pick up the phone and say...." This call is being recorded then ask them how may you help them. Most collectors use auto dialers and may not even know that it was said and you can trap them at their own game.

"where can i find an ip address"
How about the IP post office? Lol sorry I am in a mood and could not let it go.
Practice makes perfect but only if you practice perfectly!

I would contact the local authorities. IF everything you state in your post is TRUE, then that is illegal, even if you owe them money. That is threatening you and your family and is not allowed. Period.
