**i hope i have posted this in the correct forum?**
Why dont Mac OS X and Mac OS Classic (9.2 and below) have their own
forums? Comparing Mac OS X to Mac OS 9, is like comparing windows xp
to windows 3.1
besides just mac os x and classic, what about the different versions of OSX
should be separated. 10.0 - 10.2, in a forum, 10.3 and 10.4 in another, and
10.5 and 10.6 in another.in my opinion here is what mac os "translates" into windows
Mac OS 8 - windows 98/95
Mac OS 9 - Windows 98SE/ME
Mac OS X 10.0/1/2 - windows ME
Mac OS X 10.3 windows 2000/XP
Mac OS X 10.4 XP/Vista
Mac OS X 10.5/6 Vista/7

Operating System Total Market Share -- July, 2009
Windows -- 93.04%
Mac -- 4.86%
Linux -- 1.05%
Others -- ~1.05%There ya go :-)

Hey,
Ideally, I agree that they should be separated. However, there are so few postings on that forum as it is, I don't see much of a point.
Justin

That would make sense since the Mac isn't a "PC" according to Apple.
It used to be Mac was all proprietary. Proprietary hardware as well as OS. Now, they're built from exactly all the same parts as any "PC" (ie: NVIDIA graphics, SoundBlaster sound etc etc etc) and Mac's OS X is based on BSD (UNIX for those of you who aren't in the know). So the only thing proprietary on them anymore is the brand name.
Not to mention, the acronym PC stands for "Personal Computer" of which Mac most definitely is now, and has always been...................
That's why I always laugh at those "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials...........they're all PC's............LOL

I don't hang in that forum, but that would have been exactly my guess as to why. No surprise there.
