I have lost my way, and seem to have got into a 2002 thread "IEXPLORE SITE RESTRICTION HELP!!!!!!!!!! (edit)" What have I done . I do know how to sus things out, but this has baffled me. I seem to have lost my questions and answers, and I was building up quite a good history, so I am sad about that.
Sorry to be giving someone a headache !!

This is absolutely ridiculous.... your name shows that this is your first post so have not a clue as to what questions and answers it is that you have lost from this site....I think you need to buy a GPS to help you find your way back to where you came from!

Hi again, lurkswithin. Here is a copy of one of my messages, which I saved in Word.

Re AVG Queerie.

Hi. I am new to this site, so my apologies for getting things
wrong. I have just sent a reply , but I think it got lost in cyber space ! Thanks to all who replied to my AVG Question, but I would like to send you all your own reply. Why do these answer box's not stay, so I can reply individually?

Can someone please tell me the protocol for this site, as I cannot find how to use it correctly, and I think I would really like to understand it . This is the 1st time I have used it, with my question re AVG scanning, to which I received 6 replies. Thankyou all so much.

I am a senior citizen, and came into the wonderful world of computers when in my 60's, and I am now in my mid 70's, and I just love my "puter. I do hope this gets put in the correct thread, so here's hoping.

Hi Shirley

although you may have deleted your messages from 'my computing net', they remain in the various computing.net forums.

This does not refer to private messages.

I think you will find you can locate each message thread using the message find facility etc., and then link it back into 'my computing.net'.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

To Mike Newcomb, Thankyou so much for your reply, and I am just about to try what you have suggested. This is such an amazing site, and I am so glad that I found it.

Will let you know how I get on.

Kind regards from NZ.......Shirley.

shirley33,

My understanding is that even though a post has been deleted then the post count itself doesn't change...I could be wrong on that as it depends on how it is set to begin with.

Are you sure it was this site that you posted in to begin with...and also as to the sign in name as well....did you have to re-register just now or did it retain your older registration?

What date was on the post that you saved in word! There has to be a date when it was first created on the file.

Hi : lurkswithin. Thanks for your reply.

Yes, this is the site that I posted into, to begin with, and I do not remember changing my sign in name.

No, I have only registered once, to the best of my knowlege.

Unfortunately, I did not capture the date of the post which I saved in Word, as I only saved the main text. It would have been about 1-2 days ago.

I think it would have been in Lounge, as at that stage I really didn't know where I was supposed to post it, and found Lounge easy.

Thanks for your help.

Shirley.

If the post was in the Lounge forum a moderator may have removed it. The Lounge forum is to be used for anything non computer related.

For your information (FYI) double clicking on the user name in any post will show the number of posts that user has participated. Your name only shows 1 thread.

If you have an issue involving a virus or AV software post in the Security and Virus forum on the right of this thread.

Hi OtheHill......Thanks for your reply.

I am a newbie here, so I shall just put the loss of that thread, down to a learning curve.

You people are doing a great job, and I wish I had found this web site earlier in my computer journey.

Kind regards,

shirley33
