Hey Justin,
I hate to be a pest, and I have brought this up a couple of times in other posts I've put up here in the Lounge.
So here I go again............
It used to be, when I went to finally post a response I had the option to:
1) Confirm Post and return to Forum
or
2) Confirm Post and view my response
We now only get option 2 which annoys me to no end.
As I've said before, by the time I click to Post my response, I've proofread it and do not wish to see it again and then be forced to click on the forum to get back into it.
I prefer to have Option 1 availabe so that when I click post, it automatically pops me back into the Forum I was in.
Is there any chance you could add that option back, please!?!?

Curt,
I'm not sure I understand... With the old system, you were taken to a "Message Posted" page with both a link to the new message and a link to the containing forum. With the new system, that page is eliminated. You are taken directly to your new post. However, the breadcrumbs right at the top of the new post always have a link back the forum. For example, on this post, right at the top underneath the get help search box, it says "Computing.Net > Forums > The Lounge > Post and Return to Forum." If you click on "The Lounge" you go back to the lounge. The old system didn't eliminate any clicking to get back to the forum.

Right, and you've eliminated that page and one extra step to posting. Only now, when I click on the "Confirm Post" button, I get taken directly into the message with no option for going to the forum instead. How about this:
On the page with the "Confirm Post" button, change the text on that button to read "Confirm Post and View Reply" and then add a second button with "Confirm Post and return to forum".
Then I don't need to go into yet another page to choose which way to go after posting, and, I'm not forced to view my response and can instead return to the forum so I may click on another post to read/respond to it.
My entire point being, when I get to the point where I'm happy with my response, after editing and previewing it, and I'm ready to post it to the forum, I would like to have the option to post my response and return to the forum. As compared to the present situation where I have no choice and must click on "Confirm Post" and am forced to view my repsonse.
Clear like mud now? lol

Yes I do, now that you mention it..........lol.
I have a good memory, it just tends to be short. So until you'd mentioned it, I had quite forgotten that the page I was talking about (with the two options) was actually after you'd posted.
I'm guessing that to program in a second button that would return you to the forum would take more doing that adding a link to page. What are the chances you'd be able to do it?

Hi Justin,
I would prefer to go back to the containing forum by default, rather than the message just posted.
Although providing choices would be better.
With that said, I can live with how it stands.
Regards - Mike

Hi, I liked the original format because it was great if you are the type who likes or needs to refine their post prior to posting. When the new format was launched, I just worked around this using the 'edit' feature after posting if needed. The new format seems to be more efficient, so I'd say keep it as it is now.

I assume you don't know that you can still edit your posts before actually posting them.
After entering your post for the first time, click the Preview Follow Up button.
On the Confirm Post page, under the button that says Confirm Post, there's a checkbox next to:
Check To Show Confirmation Page AgainClick in that box before clicking Confirm Post and you'll loop back to the confirmation page with the ability to edit your post again. Keep checking that box and you'll be able to edit your post over and over again without ever actually posting it.

Hi,
I think going to the containing forum by default would be kind of confusing to most users. I was only considering doing it as an option, not by default.
Justin

the new format is good Justin
Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

I think you're right and as you well know, I'd LOVE to have that option available!
LOL
;)

I simply do not have a problem with the current system for posting a response.
I can just post, preview if I want, edit if I screw up, and a click to the right puts me on any forum I want.
