Hey, I was wondering if anyone besides me has tried Windows 7 Beta 7000? If so, what are your thoughts of it? I thought this would've been asked by now but I guess I'm the first.

As for my opinion, I love it. The new taskbar is really great and things are so much faster than Vista. I'm running an AMD Sempron 2600+ with 1 gig of RAM too. The beta hardly seems like a beta to me. While I've encountered a few quirks, it's excellent to be a beta.

I think that IE8 is a mess, but works just fine in Compatibility View Mode. An IE plug-in for Skype crashed IE, but Windows asked me if I wanted to disable the plug-in. I clicked Yes and have had no more problems after that.

I've installed some programs, and during the installation of some programs, the setup program hangs when setting a restore point. Not a big deal.

Other than that, I think Windows 7 Beta is great. It networks with the Windows XP PCs in the house just fine.

Meh. My version of nVidia drivers tend to crash when using Direct Draw/3D, and I have a few network issues that might be driver related. Other than that, it just seems like a streamlined, polished Vista.

A streamlined and polished vista

Is what it is. They have removed all the bloat and garbage fromthe old folks security questions and it seems to work pretty well.

I hated Vista but this seems to be a lot better...still playing around with it before a final judgement though.....I think IE8 will force more people over to google chrome or firefox though...IE8 sucks!

I agree that IE8 is pathetic, but I've been using it for a day in Compatibility View Mode and it's fine. I like the color refinements made to the toolbars :).

I also agree that 7 is a streamlined and polished Vista. It has the same general design, and the exact sound theme as Vista. But I love it so much better.

I love the very beautiful themes and backgrounds as well.

Looks like my prediction (and other people's, too, probably) will come true.... Vista will probably end up going the way of Millennium Edition.

Assume that I already did an Internet search.

Windows 7 "Sucks" But; it loads & installs faster that Vista! But it's just a Bare Bones OS. Currently there are no updates available; No Games unless you install Office 2007 Enterprise Blue Edition (search for the *.ISO IMAGE @ BT JUNKIE.ORG/
the file size is 568 MB and will fit on a CD burn the image with Magic ISO or any other burning software that you choose, Label the CD & pop it into your Drive & click on the "BOOT STRAPPER " And the rest is a Unattended Intsallation
