Example Screencast
Hi guys, You may have noticed a "ScreenCAST" icon appearing next to the existing entries for HTML markup in the posting form. This icon allows you to record a screencast. It requires Java to work and should work on both PCs and Macs.
I have attached on a very basic example screencast to this posting. New screencasts are processed every two minutes. Until that time, it will say that the screencast is pending.
Once screencasts are in your library, you can attach them to other posts. This will allow you to record a tutorial type screencast and use it over and over again for similar questions.
Please let me know how it works!
Thanks!
Justin

Anyone else getting this error on the player?
300: Player initialization failed: ReferenceError: Error #1065
Razor2.3, What browser are you using? It requires Flash 9.0+. I tried it in IE9, Chrome and Firefox without any issue.

It's the first thing that loads, but I'm starting to suspect my work's proxy. It works fine on my home PC which has a similar Firefox/Flash setup, and the proxy has been known to be less than non-invasive.
Razor2.3, That makes sense. Lets see if some other users report it. I may work on getting a different player.
Justin
I have Flash v.11.5.502.146 on Firefox 18.0.1 and all I get is a black screen. Regards
Whoops just logged onto the page again and this time it reports "Flash is disabled Manage Addons" but it is enabled!
Wow, I didn't think the player would have any issues. I thought the system itself may have some.
What happens if you go here: http://static.computing.net/img/scr...
Do you still get that flash is disabled error?
Justin
It requires Java to work Has Oracle fixed the exploit in java yet? I'm not reinstalling it until they do.....lol

Curt R, Yeah, that is unfortunate... but I'm sure they'll fix it soon.
It only requires Java to record casts. Watching them doesn't.

Trying out Screencasting
This is the sound of your coffee-saturated Community Manager trying out the new awesome screencasting service. Very cool!

Justin regarding #8... it still shows Flash as being disabled, I don't have Java installed, I'm with Curt R in this respect.
Ewen, That's very weird... What if you go here: http://flash.flowplayer.org/demos/i...
That is the player we're using.
Justin
Hi Justin, I re-installed Flash and It works now... apologies for giving you a headache. Regards
